December 2004 Updates

Amy is being quite the little helper these past couple of days. Yesterday morning, she made not only her bed, but our bed too. Then she cleared her breakfast dishes, then at dinner time she cleared the entire table, even putting things away in the frig, and attempted to load the dishwasher. This morning after getting dressed and brushing her teeth, she had to help me clean the toilets and then clean her bathroom as well. I'm not sure how long this domestic phase will last, but it's really cute to see her doing these things.

We got our new phone book yesterday and it was still sitting on the dining room table this morning. She asked what it was, I told her and she offered to put it away. I told her that was fine, and then she decided she wanted to look at it, which was also fine. The next thing I know, she's disappeared into her playroom and when I go to see what she's doing, she comes walking back out with her phone (one of our old cell phones), is looking up a phone number, and when I ask who she's calling she says Oma and Pompo. She then goes on to have a conversation with both of them.

So Amy has this little friend Nic at school. (Remember, she is the only girl in her class of 7). Well Nic told his mommy that he is dating Amy. He also said that when he was 4 he had lots of girlfriends (just a week or so ago) but now that he's 5 he only has one. She went to his birthday party at a rollerskaing rink, where the two of them spent most of the time together, not skating, but playing (or rather thinking they were playing) video games. We parents left out the part about having to put money in the machines to actually play the games. It was quite cute to see. But when we asked Amy when she and Nic were getting married (jokingly of course) she said not for 100 years, until she's 18. She hasn't quite grasped the concept of years and time yet. But that's okay.

Another cute thing that she said recentlly was when Dean was getting frustrated about something. She gave her advice for what she does when she gets frustrated. "Stop, breathe, and think" is what she told him he should do, because that's what you are supposed to do when you get frustrated. Pretty sage advice from a 4 1/2 year old.

Amy has now finished school for the year and is beginning her Christmas break. On Thursday, the 16th, they had their Christmas program and party at school. That's where these pictures are from. Nic, as you can probably guess, is the little boy in the 5th picture, with his arm around her (and hers around him). The other little boy in that picture is Blake, also in Amy's class. The last picture, Amy surrounded by all the boys, is her entire class. Enjoy!
