Amy had her final vaccination (at least until she starts Kindergarten) today. She whimpered at first when we went into the Doctors office, but when the nurse gave her the shot she did just fine. No screaming, no crying, not even a flinch. In return she got two stickers for being so good. Stickers are always a big hit with her.
I can't even begin to list anymore all the things she is saying. Today for example when Dean came home and Amy heard the garage door open, she said "daddy home". She puts two and three words together, repeats just about everything we say, and is even learning some of her letters - thanks to Sesame Street.
Dean finally managed to cut Amy's bangs. It was a challenge but we managed to get it done.
She seems to understand the difference between yes and no now. Although she doesn't always say yes, it's usually uh-huh or okay, she will use it correctly. An example is when you ask her if she's done eating. If she is done, she will usually say "all done" or "uh-huh". If she's not done, then she'll let you know that too. And her appetite is still strong as ever.
She is also very strong willed when it comes to the clothes she wants to wear. I had an outfit laid out for her, but when Dean tried to dress her in it this morning she wanted nothing to do with it, and picked out something completely different.
And as you can see by today's pictures, she once again had to have most of her animals in bed with her after her nap. Here are today's "pictures of the day".

Maybe I should change this to weekly updates. That seems to be the frequency at which I'm able to get them out there these days.
Amy has been sleeping more lately. I don't know if it's been because of Dean's crazy schedule or if her sleep habits are just changing. But lately she's been sleeping in until around 8:00 or 8:30, with still going to bed at her normal time of 8:00. She's also been taking slightly longer naps too.
On Thursday when she woke up from her nap, instead of immediately getting up, she had to have all of her animals placed in bed with her. But, none of them could be touching, so they had to be arranged just so. It was quite the sight to see. She certainly loves her zoo of animals.
As you can see by the pictures, her hair is getting quite long. Dean attempted to cut her bangs, but she didn't want anything to do with it. Fortunately we go back to the hairdresser next week for cuts for all of us.
She is trying to communicate more everyday. She often repeats what we say, other times she tries to combine words, making 2 or 3 word sentences that usually get her point across. She has figured out Uh-huh and is working on saying yes now too.
Hard to believe that Tuesday will be our 1 year anniversary of receiving the referral. Although we didn't get the pictures and all of the information for another two days, we finally knew who our daughter was and where she was. As you can well imagine, since we received the "call" at work, not much got done that day. And now here we are a year lately, one happy family, totally in love with our little Chinese firecracker.

Life has been hectic around here these past days. Tax season has set in for Dean, long hours and an all nighter last night. So I haven't had much time to do anything else other than taking care of Amy.
I think we can safely say that potty training has begun. She has used a couple of times now, but the behavior that clued me in was when Charlie Bear and Baby are having to go pooh-pooh now. She brings them in to the bathroom, puts the on her potty and then waits. Then she has to get a little piece of toilet paper and wipe each ones bum. This can go on for 20 minutes sometimes. But at least she has the idea. Now she just needs to do it more too.
Amy is back in full swing with school and music class and is enjoying both again. This semesters theme in music class is transportation. They have gotten a book about a train called Shiny Dinah, 2 harmonicas (one is for the child, the other for the parent to play with), and a box that looks like a train. She has figured out how to play the harmonica, but it doesn't seem to capture her attention as much as the train box.
The wooden beads and string she received for Christmas has been a big hit lately too. She will sit and try to string the beads, then give them to her animals or baby and have them try to do it too. She also has fun putting them away. She will put some in a cup then dump those into the bag they belong in, and then repeat this process over and over until they are all cleaned up. She still cleans up most of her toys, most of the time. But she has also learned the meaning of the word No and will use it when she doesn't want to do something.

Ray-rees - what Amy calls raisins are her most favorite snack these days. Every time I open the pantry door she points to the raisins and asks for them.
Although she still looks around the house for Oma & Pompo, I think she has realized that they have gone back home. She actually said "Oma, Pompo, Airplane" all as one sentence. We had been telling her that they have gone home on an airplane and even showed her a picture that Pompo drew just before they left.
She is imitating behaviors more and more. Now when we blow our noses, she asks for a tissue and will blow her nose too. She is getting surprisingly good at it too. If someone stretches or coughs, she imitates that too. I guess she wants to be like mommy & daddy. Including her appetite. It is amazing how much she has been eating these past few days. I wish I still had that kind of metabolism.
Here are today's "pictures of the day". Enjoy.

Happy New Year Sorry for the delay in getting new pictures out. We've just been having such fun with Oma & Pompo visiting, that there hasn't been time to do all that we wanted to do. But here are a bunch of pictures to show you what all we've been up to.
Amy has been learning new words and is combining more words to make short sentences. She now says "sit down", "get up", and "more please".
She has also been enjoying all of the new toys she received for Christmas. It's hard to say if there is one that is a particular favorite - she seems to be playing with them all.
Next week we're back to our normal schedule again. Mother's Morning Out on Monday & Thursday, and Kindermusik on Friday. Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year.
