January 2003 Updates
January 21, 2003

Amy started back to school today. She wasn't too sure about it at first. There were some kids in her class that aren't in her normal Monday/Thursday class - so I think she was a little confused.

While visiting Oma & Pompo we went out for a very nice Italian dinner. The food was outstanding, but I think Amy really enjoyed the dessert the most. She shared Pompo's Chocolate Mousse and Oma's Pistachio Gelato. My Tiarmisu was not a big hit with her.

She also loved doing crafts while Aunt Maritza, Oma, and I would sew. She had felt shapes that she would play with on the design wall, decorative scissors that she cut paper with and then glue to other pieces of paper, and colored pencils to color her creations too.

Two of her Christmas presents were play sets, one tea set and the other a Tupperware pitcher, cups and plates set. She thoroughly enjoys playing with them and setting up tea parties for herself and her animals. Yesterday they even had to be put out so that they could have lunch with her.

Here are the last of the pictures from our trip. Enjoy!

It was amazing what kept Amy occupied. One afternoon Oma was making mashed potatoes. Amy must have spent an hour washing the potato peels in the sink. She would put them in a bowl, swish them around, the put them in a strainer and repeat this process over and over. Oma commented that she had the cleanest potato peels anywhere.

She also would play with Pompo's flashlight. She called it her phone and would carry on quite the conversations. We also would have to talk on this phone and one day even baby had to talk to someone too.

She had her first experience with snow while we were out there. There wasn't as much as we first thought there was going to be, but it was enough for her to try and make a few snowballs and get the idea of what snow was. I think she also had fun sliding on some of the icy patches that were on the sidewalk when we were in Leavenworth.

Tomorrow Amy goes back to school. Yes it is a Tuesday. As of January her class has started going three days a week. So now she will be in school Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This will continue through next year when she moves up to the 3 year olds class as well.

Here are some more pictures from the trip. Enjoy!

Wow, what a time we've had. Between Christmas and then our three week visit to Washington - it's been a busy and growing time for Amy.

We had a wonderful visit with Oma, Pompo, Aunt Maritz, Uncle Chuck, Uncle Willy, Aunt Shelly, Aunt Susan, and everyone else we met along the way.

One of the first things we did after we were out there was get Amy's hair cut. We had about 2 inches taken off and it looks so cute. I think it is the perfect length for her. Hopefully she'll do as well next time we go for a haircut as she did on this visit.

I think one of the things she enjoyed the most was the animals. Mushi the dog, and Kiwi the cat. She loved to give them their snacks and read to them, and play with them.

One day while I was at a quilting class, Amy & Oma baked cookies. She had fun doing that too as you can see by all the powdered sugar on her face.

Here are just a few pictures to get everyone caught up. I will post more over the next few days as we get settled back in to our normal routines.
