This update is just for Pompo before he leaves for his training. Well okay, everyone else can enjoy it too.
As you can see by the pictures, Amy is in to organizing bags. And everything else too, but this particular day she had to line up all the plastic shopping bags so they could go night-night. And she wouldn't stop until they were just so. It must have occupied a half an hour of arranging and rearranging the bags all across the kitchen floor.
Amy is still using the potty. Of course she's still using her diapers too, but at least she hasn't given up totally on the potty either. She definitely likes getting the stickers - so that seems to be a good motivator.
Dean managed to cut her hair the other night without any tears, screams, or crying. She did real well, keeping her eyes closed and being a big girl about it. After it was all done she had to pretend to cut mommy's hair. So she came over to me and said "snip, snip, don't cry mommy, it's okay." all while pretending to cut my bangs. Then she blew on my face to get off the hair that she had cut and pronounced "All Done!"
In other grooming habits she is also pretending to cut fingernails and toenails of everyone - including the cats (who usually won't sit still long enough for one of us, let alone her to pretend), and all of her animals and baby too. Sometimes she'll pretend with the fingernail clippers, being careful not to open them. Other times she'll use one of the emory boards and give a manicure & pedicure.
"I behave mommy. I behave daddy.", is what she says now when she's been bad. Lately the discipline that seems to work best is sending her to her room. (Yes, she does misbehave.) Well, whenever we do this there are many tears and melodrama on her part and her crying out "I behave! I behave!". It's sometimes hard to keep your composure when faced with this, but we manage to keep on track and then after a couple of minutes of being by herself she comes back out and does behave.

We hit a milestone today!!! Amy has decided to start using the potty on her own.
It started in the past couple of weeks that she would go in and sit down on her potty voluntarily. She wouldn't do anything except for sit there, but I figured it was a start.
Well this morning while we were out she decided she had to go potty at Target - so she sat down and didn't do anything again. But it seemed to be progress again (as inconvenient as it sometimes is). Then this afternoon after nap when we were cleaning up the dirty diaper and putting on a clean pull up, she decided she had to go potty and went into the bathroom, sat down and peed. This went on for about ten minutes, sitting for a while, then peeing some more, and so on. After making sure she was done, she was rewarded with 2 stickers and a clean pull up. Later on in the afternoon she decided again that she had to go, announced the fact and then went in the bathroom and pulled down her shorts and pull up, sat down and peed again.
Once again stickers and praise were given, and another round of clean pull ups. We then went out to dinner, where she commented rather loudly that she had pee-peed in the potty today. After dinner we came home for bath and getting ready for bed and she decided once again that she had to poo-poo. Well it wound up only being another pee-pee, but needless to say there are now a number of stickers on her potty lid.
Pictures today include her organizing everything in front of her while sitting on the potty, and her camp pictures. Enjoy!

Two cute stories to tell... Be careful what you say around Amy because she will repeat you.
First story - She was whining about something and I had heard enough so I told her "Get over it Amy". I didn't think anything more about that phrase until we were out driving a few days later and someone nearly plowed into me in the parking lot. I grumbled something, and from the back seat I hear this little voice say "Get over it mommy". Well at that point all I could do was laugh.
Next story - it must be something about riding in the car. We were coming home from camp and were sitting at a traffic light. I reached back to tickle Amy's leg and out of the blue she says to me "that's enough mommy" in the same tone of voice we use with her when we say the exact same words. Of course in our case it usually related to playing with food or some other activity that needs to be stopped. But it just amazes me how she remembers these phrases and uses them appropriately - whether she realizes it or not.
On Wednesday she got to camp before John which made for a traumatic drop off experience. But I found out that afternoon when I picked her up that as soon as John arrived she just lit up. They said she was all smiles and as happy as could be. They only wished they had the camera at that point to have taken a picture of the smile she gave. I think our little Amy is turning into a flirt.
She missed camp on Thursday due to a slight fever. It turns out one of the other kids had been sick earlier in the week and I guess shared it with everyone else. Friday she was back to camp though and enjoyed herself again. The drop off wasn't quite as traumatic, but it was enough for us to decide to forgo the other week that she was going to go and try it again maybe next summer.

Today was Amys first day at camp. A little dramatic to start with - she didn't want me to leave and let everyone know it too. But once she realized her friend John was there she was okay and went off to play. She also did this crying fit the past two weekends when Dean and I got a babysitter so we could go out. But once we were gone she was fine and off to playing.
Last night we decided to try again with taking the rail off the crib. She had asked about it a couple of times, so we thought we would go ahead and give it a try. Amazingly she didn't fall out at all. She was squished up against the side by the wall when I went in to get her this morning, but then she got down on her own and seemed pleased that she stayed in her bed all night.
She is having fun these days taking care of all of her animals. As you can see by the pictures, she gets them all lined up and then sits down to read them a story. She will also push them around in baby's stroller or take them when she rides in her car seat. She was playing patty-cake with her panda bear in the car the other day. The next thing I know she was talking to him, telling him it was okay, not to cry, the boom booms were all gone. She was very tender and loving, and trying her best to comfort him.
Everyday brings new questions and new things to explore. Her mind is just growing at such an amazing pace it wears me out by the end of the day. We carry on such lengthy conversations that I'm usually spent by the time nap time rolls around.
Another favorite activity is playing with her crayons and cardboard. She is starting to try coloring some things in her coloring book too, but the paper on the easel is still a big hit too. There she can scribble all over, even stand up on her stool and reach the top of the paper now too. She's getting pretty good at drawing circles and is now working on the straight lines too.
Enjoy today's pictures.
