It's been an active week for Amy. She is learning to sing Lida Rose from the Music Man, she has been telling the boom-booms (thunder) that it's past their bedtime and they need to go night-night, and she's been sewing more.
First, about Lida Rose. Our nighttime routine these days is for Dean to read Amy a story, and then he puts her to bed. Well for the past week or so, he's also been singing to her, Lida Rose, from the musical the Music Man. Much to our surprise, she has now decided to try singing along. She doesn't get all the words, but lida rose comes out pretty clearly as do a few of the other words. But to top it all, she has now started trying to sing that to baby too. In addition, she is also singing her ABC song, still missing a few letters, and Rock A Bye Baby.
As for the boom-booms, we've had scattered thunderstorms pretty much all week. On Tuesday we had quite the thunderstorm in the afternoon during nap time. She did well sleeping through most of it, but there was one thunder crack right around the 2 hour and 45 minute mark that I figured had woken her up. When I went in to check she told me that the boom-booms had woken her up. We came out to the kitchen to have a snack and watch the rain through the back door. This was when she decided that the thunder should go to sleep and she said in a rather loud voice "Boom-booms, go sleep. Past your bedtime. Go night-night." And she would repeat this or a variation of it every time it would thunder.
On Wednesday Amy & I went to the quilters guild stitch in. As usual she charmed everyone there and then she decided she wanted to sew. I gave some of the quilt squares that I had been working on, along with a tightly closed safety pin, and she sat down and pretended to sew. This kept her entertained for a little while, actually enabling me to get a little bit of basting done on the project I had brought along.
She also has a bag that I have been putting scraps of fabric in for her to play with. Well this morning she decided to get them out and lay them out on the floor and sew them all together. She also pretended to cut some of them, and then decided that one was too pretty to sew, and that was going to be her new necklace.
She is definitely a little girl - playing dress up with all of her bracelets and necklaces, wanting to wear dresses or "no pants" as she so often says, and helping with cleaning around the house. She will run the cordless vacum that we have as well as play with her toy vacum, she likes to help with the laundry - especially putting it in the washing machine, and on occasion will even help set and clear the table.

Well it would seem that her last two molars are starting to come in. Off and on for the past week or so she has complained about her teeth hurting. I was finally able to get a good enough look in there the other night and could see that the upper left is just starting to break through and the upper right is definitely swollen. All in all, her teething experience has been pretty good. These last few molars seemed to have been the worst - but nothing like the horror stories I've heard from other mothers.
On Friday Amy and I went down to Joann fabrics for a morning out. While we were there Amy was walking through the different fabric aisles saying "Amy quilt, Amy quilt." She also pulled bolts of fabric off the shelves and would hand them to me and say "this one?" seeing if maybe I wanted the one she happened to pick up. Later that evening as we were driving home she was sitting in her car seat saying "sew, sew, sew". When I asked what she was doing, she told me she was sewing and needed more fabric.
This morning she found her hats on her shelf and decided that it would be fun to pull them out and play with them. As you can see by today's pictures, she really had to ham it up.
Another response that she is using frequently these days is "later". When you ask her if she wants to do something she'll say later. Or if you ask her if she wants something to eat, she'll say "no, later". The amazing thing is that she'll often remember things later and then tell you that she wants whatever it was that you offered earlier.

Today, baby got her very own stroller. Ever since then she has been going for rides around the house, mostly in circles. Panda and big bird have also had the chance to go for a ride as well.
We also went to feed the geese this morning. It started out okay, there were only a few geese when we got there. Amy and I stood by the side of the lake tossing bread, when I turned and looked and saw a gaggle (maybe 50+) geese coming towards us. Needless to say I had to pick Amy up before she was run over by them all. But a fun time was had by all, and it will be something that we do again when we have more stale bread.
The trend has been continuing with the longer afternoon naps. We're now averaging about 2 hours and 45 minutes instead of the hour and half that she was taking before. Of course everything has to be just so before she'll go to sleep. This afternoon she had to have her quilt and her blankie, baby, lullabear, bunny, charlie bear, and love bear all had to be at the other end of the crib under the quilt, and she had to have her door open just so for air. Of course a lot of this was her latest attempt at stall techniques, but it was cute and she did go to sleep after that.
Her favorite question these days is "what's that?" instead of "why" - which I'm sure will come sooner or later. But everything she sees now, even if she knows what it is, she has to ask "what's that?" Like the why question it can get tiresome, but she's learning more and more everyday, so we continue to answer the best we can.
Her favorite response to when she asks what you are doing is "oh, okay". And when she asks to see something and you show it to her, she responds with "how cute", emphasis on the u cute.
And on an un-Amy related note, for those of you that haven't heard, Dean has renewed his contract with UTS for another 3 years, so we're not moving anywhere anytime soon. If you're in the area, drop by and visit. We'd love to see everyone.

Amy has discovered playing dress up with her bracelets and new dress up shoes. She keeps all of her bracelets in her purse, along with her car keys, and what she calls her cash - a pretend credit card that came with one of the many credit card solicitations that we get.
This afternoon after her 3 hour nap, (yes I was amazed too), she had to read her Dr. Seuss books to me. We had to lay on our bed while she read 3 different books to me. She would turn the pages and point to different things and identify what they were. Although we didn't read most of the books in order, she did know what was what.
She also has been blowing kisses to everyone. Including the cows that we see at Berry College. In addition to blowing them kisses, she has to throw imaginary cookies out to them too. It has become quite the routine everytime we drive by there. Which is usually twice a day if we go anywhere since we have to pass the college to get just about anywhere in town.
I may have mentioned this before, but she is assembling more and more sentences every day. She is starting to carry on conversations with people, not just mommy and daddy. She is also talking to her baby and her animals more. Changing their diapers, putting them to bed, feeding them, and so forth. It is quite fun to be around when she is doing this, just to hear what she might say next.
So without further delay, here are today's pictures.

Happy summer. Okay, so it's not officially summer yet, but it sure feels like it here. These past few days have been bordering on unbearable. We blew up Amy's inflatable pool last Sunday morning, and put it out on the back deck. It's been getting used quite a bit already.
We had to go buy a new bathing suit for this summer - a pink gingham bikini, and the next size up in swim diapers. But unlike last summer, Amy has already adjusted to the pool and is having a grand time playing and splashing and even sitting down and pretending to cook too. The other nice thing is that it is just big enough that Dean or I can also fit in there with her. A great way to keep cool and have fun too.
Every time we take pictures now, Amy always has to see too. She really hams it up for the camera. In one of today's pictures she is doing her best to do an ad for Yoplait yogurt. That has become one of her favorite foods and snacks lately.
Another thing that she has been doing lately is saying "Um..." and pausing as though she is thinking about what to say next. She'll do this when you ask her a question or if she's in the middle of carrying on a conversation with you.

Just a quick update of our little ham. She is pictured below modeling two new dresses that Oma made for her. Whenever the camera comes out now, she has to ham it up and say "cheese".
Enjoy today's pictures.
