March 2003 Updates

Mommy's little helper. That's Amy's lastet nickname. Everything I do she has to help me do, from making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to planting flowers. Sometimes it can be fun, other times down right frustrating. But she is certainly learning a lot and doing a lot more too.

She has actually managed to get out of bed a couple of times now when she has had to go potty. Up until a day or two ago, she would lay in bed and call to us telling us that she had to go potty or wanted to get up and we would have to go in there before she would get out of her bed. She is capable of climbing in and out of bed, opening and closing the door, going potty by herself, so we haven't been able to figure out why she just won't get out of bed on her own.

Since we've been having nice weather and have been able to play outside, Amy decided it was time to wash her tricycle. So with her bubbles she cleaned it, then with the hose she rinsed it (actually daddy had to do that part), and then she dried it with a paper towel. My plants have also gotten bubble baths or as she says, she was watering them with her bubbles.

Here are today's pictures. Enjoy!

Amy is now officialy 3 years old. Happy Birthday Amy!

We had birthday cake and goodies at school on Thursday instead of doing a regular birthday party. She had her Blues Clues cake with all her classmates and then we did dinner and presents, just the three of us that evening. The next morning after music class we got together with some of her neighborhood friends to have cake and play. She even got a few more presents then too. It was a fun time and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Thursday at school was also Fire Safety day. Amy wasn't too crazy about the noise the fire truck made and I don't think she liked all the stuff that the fireman had to wear, but all in all it went pretty well. We finally towards the end managed to get a couple of pictures of her on the fire truck.

When asked these days what she wants to be when she grows up, she says a a ballet dancer. I guess watching the Nutcracker on video and seeing one of the other little girls in the neighborhood dressed in her ballet class outfit has influenced this decision. Now when we listen to music at home she has to dance around the livingroom and make sure you are watching her ballet moves. Maybe that will be next years activity instead of music class. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Here are today's pictures. Enjoy!

Happy Forever Family Day (a few days late).

It was my hope to get pictures posted on the 12th in honor of our forever family day, but due to circumstances beyond our control, including Amy being sick, that didn't happen.

But, one piece of good news! We finally got Amy's birth certificate. It's a long story as to why it took so long, but lets just say it was more bureaucratic paperwork issues than anything else.

She has great fun these days lining up all her animals and babies and reading to them. She also reads stories to Dean and me, and has to sleep with her books at nap time as well. (This is in addition to the three animals she always sleeps with too.)

Dress up is starting to become a fun thing to do too. She doesn't have alot yet in the way of play dress up clothes, but what she does have she gets quite creative with.

Here are today's pictures, one from March 12, 2001, one from March 12, 2002 and one from March 17, 2003, and more. Enjoy!

Quick update.

We made banana muffins this morning for something fun to do. Amy really enjoyed mixing all the ingredients together and as soon as they were done baking she wanted to eat one. Of course we waited until they cooled off enough and then she set up a birthday party for baby, with a muffin as the birthday cake.

These are the pictures of her party for baby. Enjoy!

It's so hard these days to get good candid shots of Amy. Every time she hears the camera turn on she starts saying "cheese" and smiling a silly smile from ear to ear.

Pooping on the potty continues. She has been pretty consistent now for the past week. Whenever she does poo-poo she gets a penny in her jar. This was an incentive we had seen on an episode of Mr. Rogers a couple of months ago, and she remembered it the second night that she pooped on the potty. She asked where her jar was for pennies. So now, everytime she goes, she gets another penny. All to be saved up and put into her bank account some day.

She is still enjoying school, but doesn't seem to be enjoying music class as much these days. While she is still showing an interest in music, singing, and playing with the keyboard, it seems that she is either bored with what we do at Kindermusik or it's just lost it's appeal. I think this will probably be the last semester that we do it for a while.

We're going to try and take swimming lessons this spring, so we can take advantage of the opportunities that we will have for swimming this summer. She is also showing an interest in dancing and gymnastics, so that might be next years activity. On Sunday when we went to church she said she was wearing her dancing dress (a little denim jumper) and was pretending to dance everywhere. When I asked her if she wanted to take dance lessons she said yes. But knowing her that answer probably would have been different had I asked the question five minutes later.

Here are todays pictures. Enjoy!
