March 2005 Updates
|
|
Happy Spring, Happy Easter, Happy Chinese New Year and any other holidays that have happened between the last update and now.
It's been busy around our household these past couple of months. Between school for Amy, work for Dean, and my just keeping up with all that's going on in our lives, that's enough. Add to it though, us going on vacation to Disney World, Amy's Gotcha Day and Birthday, and Dean giving his notice at UTS and starting his own company, we've been extra busy.
Yes, you read that right. Dean informed UTS that he would not be negotiating a new contract when his expires at the end of April. Instead he's decided to incorporate and start his own consulting/programming business. We are now officially known as Ruby Willow Incorporated.
So now back to Amy's update.
School has been going great. They have been working on more sight words, and have even brought home simple "reading" books. They range from 4 or 5 pages, all the way to 12 pages. They started out simple, about Tip the Pup and have progressed through Gus the Duck and A Wig on A Pig. But she's really enjoying it and is trying to read other words that she sees.
Amy's personality develops more and more each day. Her teacher at school has even commented that she thinks Amy will be the head of a corporation or member of the government some day. She has a very take charge attitude, especially at school. When Mrs. Beth tells them to do something, Amy makes sure that all the boys are doing what they are supposed to. In fact a cute example was when one of the little boys wanted to eat his dessert and Amy asked him if he had eaten all his healthy food first. When he said he did, she then told him he could have his dessert. Guess she does listen to what we say at home - even though sometimes I have to wonder.
She loves to sing still, even though she doesn't want to go back to music class. She continues to sing along with the cd's in the car and makes up her own songs quite often too.
The trip to Disney was fun, although it started out cold and wet, all the activities there kept us busy and generally warm. We had an awesome view from our hotel room - a savannah view in the Animal Kingdom. It was a real treat to look out the window and see giraffes, ostrich and other animals grazing just below our balcony.
Amy had breakfast with 5 princesses the morning of her birthday. I think her favorite was probably Belle, just based on the way she was smiling in the picture. I think the other favorite part of the trip was the fireworks. She was quite enthralled with the spectacular shows they put on at Disney.
And now we're back, back to school, back to the normal routine, and getting ready to enroll in kindergarten soon.
So without further delay, the pictures you've been waiting for. Enjoy!
