It's almost the end of the school year. Amy is now enrolled in Kindergarten - starting August 1. Yes, we start school early around here. They are actually on a year round schedule - which has turned out to be a pretty good thing.
Amy has been having fun playing with her friends. We've had a short spring and have jumped right into summer temperatures already. We've been to the pool once so far, and have been playing outside in the sprinkler, wading pool, and the neighbors slip and slide.
We're getting ready for the summer reading program again. Amy is really excited at the fact that she is starting to read on her own. At a minimum we are checking out 10 books at a time from the library. And with all the books she already has, we're going to build bigger bookshelves.
She actually made up a "chore list" the other day - listing out all the things she is responsible for doing. Without prompting, she even added a couple of things. So now in addition to making her bed, brusing her teeth, brushing her hair, getting dressed, and eating breakfast, she's added: emptying the trash, taking care of the cats, and clearing the table. She is definitely the little helper.
She also wants to take care of Tori - the younger sister of Maddie (her new friend across the street). She told me that she wants to babysit Tori one day, giving Kate (the mom) a rest. She would take care of Tori and I would only have to be home just in case there was something she couldn't handle. She definitely already has the maternal instinct happening.
So without further delay, pictures from a tea party with Maddie & Emilie, and playing on the slip and slide. Enjoy.
