November 2003 Updates

Amy asked an interesting question recently. She wanted to know if we were adopted. What I'm not sure of is the context in which she meant the question. Were we adopted by our parents or were we adopted into the kingdom of God. We discussed both aspects of it, but I'm not sure if it answered her question or not. And I know that the question will definitely come up again throughout her lifetime.
Let's see, Dean and Amy have been to an airshow - where she got to see all sorts of airplanes, go on a hayride and even see a zebra. Why there was a zebra at an airshow is beyond me, but they had a petting zoo for the kids.
She has also been on a pony ride - I was surprised she actually did it. Both Dean and I didn't think she would, but she did and she even said she had a good time. It did take two people to hold her on there though - even on the pony the saddle was still pretty big.
She is also starting to really enjoy playing dress up. Most recently she has gotten my gloves and hat out of the basket where we keep them all, and has put them on along with other items that she has or can find.
Amy has an amazing generous spirit. After Halloween, she decided that she wanted to share her a piece of her candy with Pastor Doug because she knew that this one kind was his favorite. So she wrapped it up in a piece of paper, taped it shut, and took it to church one Wednesday evening to give to him. He loved it and we were all blessed by her actions. The following Sunday she did the same thing for Jody and Haley, the children's ministry directors. I have yet to meet another kid who is so willing to share their candy like that.
I may have mentioned this before in another update, but it explains one of these pictures well. Amy announced to me one day that because she was bigger now she no longer needed to take naps. Well instead of making it a battle, I decided that we would then have quiet time instead. Some days have been easier than others when it came to this new idea. Other days she would want to take her nap - on those days it had been some time since she had one and it finally caught up. And then there are those days when she doesn't seem tired, but all of the sudden it gets really quiet upstairs and I go look and she's fallen asleep in the middle of what she was playing. This last picture is one of those days.
So without further delay - some new pictures to brighten your day.
