Yesterday at "cool" (as Amy calls school or Mother's Morning Out), she made a flag. It is absolutely the most beautiful flag I have ever seen. Of course I'm not prejudiced in the least.
This morning she got to see some deer while we were on our way to Kindermusik. Then after we came home we went to play at a neighbors house. There she got to see two horses up close and personal and petted their noses.
The weather has been absolutely glorious, so we are taking every advantage we can and are playing outside most of the time. Amy and Emilie (who I've been spelling her name wrong this entire time) have played together most every day. The both really enjoy the sand box that I have put together. It was a great idea that I borrowed from MMO. Put sand in a Rubbermaid box and then give them a few toys to use and a watering can to wet it and they spend hours playing with it.
This weekend we are having a multi-family/neighborhood yard sale. Should be a fun time. If you are in the area, stop by for a visit. We don't have much to sell this time around, but I know some of the other neighbors have quite a bit.

I have in my hands a "Certificate of Adoption" with the seal of the Superior Court of Floyd County, Georgia affixed. It states that we have obtained the final order of adoption on September 26, 2001. Amy's name is now legally changed and we can now start the process for applying for her social security card and passport.

Amy's vocabulary is expanding by leaps and bounds. Today she said "Wal-Mart" although it comes out sounding like "Waa-Mar". She's also tried saying "Plane" which comes out like "Plh", which is also please. "Da-Ca" is helicopter, which we've had a lot of flying over our house recently.
This past weekend we went up to Michigan for a surprise 25th wedding anniversary party for Aunt Josie & Uncle Larry. And were they ever surprised. We had a wonderful visit with them, my parents, and other aunt, uncles, and cousins.
Amy didn't do as well on these flights as she's done on previous flights. I'm hoping it was due to the stuffy nose and new teeth and that this won't be a trend when we have to fly somewhere else. And for those wondering, the flights were about 1/2 full, security was increased, more so at Detroit than Atlanta. But all in all things went smoothly with checking in and traveling to and from.
Tomorrow morning we go to court. Yippee another milestone reached. And by the way, it was 6 months this past Saturday that we've been home. Seems like she's always been with us.
We're back into our normal routine now for a while. No more trips planned any time soon. Other than maybe a family outing to the zoo now that the weather has cooled down.

What a night we had last night. After being spoiled by the past 6 months, Amy had her first "bad" night. We think it's due to teething, but whatever it may be, I hope she's over it soon. She went to bed okay, but about an hour later was up & crying for about an hour. Then she went back to bed for a few more hours and then was up again, crying and sobbing, until she finally fell asleep on our bed and Dean put her back in her crib.
This morning was better while she was playing with other kids in the neighborhood, but then this afternoon we had crying spells lasting 20 minutes and then she'd go back to playing for a while and then start crying again.
As for words, sounds, and other things that Amy has been doing - juice now actually sounds like the word juice. She's been trying some "P" words, but when she does her tongue sticks out and it sounds quite funny. She's getting quite good with the crayons. We have marks on the livingroom wall to prove that. She's doing better with a fork and spoon and is getting to point of not letting us feed her. If we try, she will turn her head away and refuse to eat. When we let her have the fork or spoon to do it herself, she goes back to eating again. She definitely has a strong will.
Other words include: cow and moo (especially when we are driving by Berry College and she knows that there are supposed to be cows in the field next to the road). Ta-ta is thank you. Plh is please. She is also using her toothbrush, although only a couple of teeth get brushed at any time, but she's definitely got the idea as to what it is for.
Today's pictures were actually taken while Oma was here visiting, but I had to share them with everyone. Amy is pictured showing off the BEAUTIFUL quilt made for her by her Great Aunt Maritza. The pictures don't do it enough justice. It will be treasured for many years to come.

We had a wonderful visit with Oma. She stayed until Friday afternoon, when she was finally able to get a flight back to Seattle.
During the time she was here we shopped for fall clothes for Amy, we cooked bunches of yummy dishes, and took some time for ourselves and went to a great little quilt shop in Atlanta.
Amy has figured out how to better use crayons now, including coloring the livingroom wall. Her appetite is still as strong as ever and she likes spicy foods. We went out for Chinese one evening and she devoured everything we gave her, from Kung Pao chicken to my spicy pork in Garlic Sauce and Dean's 5 Taste shrimp.
She is still enjoying MMO and Kindermusik. It's been great having her involved with other kids. She learns something new every day.
She's starting to learn Thank You and Please - although it's still difficult to understand what she is trying to say. She definitely imitates everything you say and do now.
Her molars are really coming through now. She seems to be experiencing more pain with those than the other teeth she's had come in so far. But we keep the baby aspirin handy and that seems to help take care of the pain.

Sorry there haven't been any updates lately. Oma has been here for what has turned in to an extended visit. It has been great having her here. We all have been having so much fun together.
Amy has been imitating more and more. She said "my, my, my" the other day. She is singing more and generally babbling away. She is starting to help more around the house. She's figured out how to help throw away the trash, swifer the dining room and kitchen floors, and as always, wipe things with a rag.
She is also having fun in the kitchen with helping to cook meals. She will stand up on the step stool at the counter and stir in her bowl, add ingredients, and try to help out with whatever she can. She has certainly enjoyed all the yummy meals we've been having too.
Tomorrow is Grandparents Day at MMO, and since Oma will still be here after all, she will get to share a special lunch with Amy.
So without further delay here are today's "pictures of the day".

Amy seems to really enjoy things with tomato sauce. Maybe because she can wear it easier. Maybe because red is one of her best colors.
She does not however like the Jump N Gym here in Rome. We decided to try going there today to let her and Emily play in the balls that they have. Every time I tried to put her down in it, she screamed at the top of her lungs. She would cling to me and not let go. I don't know if it was too big and overwhelming, there were no other kids there besides her and Emily. Or if it reminded her of something that she was terrified of. Either way it was not a hit, so we won't be going back there any time soon.
Tomorrow Oma comes for a visit. She arrives tomorrow evening and will be staying until next Tuesday. It's a short visit, but I'm glad she's able to come. I've been trying to teach Amy to say Oma. Sometimes she gets it, other times she doesn't.
She had her first meal at her own little table today. I served her lunch while she sat at her table and she seemed to enjoy eating like a big girl. It's amazing how quickly she is growing up. Both Dean and I look back at the pictures from when we first got her and brought her home and she has changed so much in such a short period of time. Hard to believe that a week from today will be 6 months since we first got her. Wow.

Uh-Oh is Amy's newest word. She will use it appropriately if she drops something, in addition to just walking around the house saying "Uh-Oh" over and over again.
In MMO on Thursday all the kids had pizza for lunch. Well Amy enjoyed it so much that she apparently had pizza sauce all over her face. It also was all over her clothes too. One of the teachers told me they got a picture of her with the sauce from ear to ear. I can't wait to see it and will post it when I get it.
Kindermusik started back up on Friday. Amy was the most hugged child in the class. One of her friends from MMO, Abbey (who is 2 1/2) kept coming over and hugging Amy. Then another little girl decided to do the same thing. By the time the class was over I think 3 or 4 kids had hugged her repeatedly. One parent made the comment that maybe the other kids think she is a doll since she is so small in comparison to them. Whatever the reason, it was cute.
She also knows that her friend Emily is a girl. Amy will stand at the diningroom window looking across the street towards Emily's house and say "Girl. Girl." Sometimes Emily will be outside and she will do this, other times no one is in sight and she still does this. She and Emily have been playing most every evening together in addition to Kindermusik and a Wednesday play date.
