September 2002 Updates
September 19, 2002

I didn't realize it had been so long since an update. Sorry about that.

Potty training is still happening - although it is still slow going and hit or miss. But as long as it keeps going, I'm happy.

School is still going well. She's really enjoying it and seems to be learning a lot. Music classes have started back up now too. We'll continue to do that as long as she continues to enjoy it.

We've finally had some rain around here too. Much needed and makes for fun puddles. Amy put on a t-shirt and shorts yesterday after nap and then got out her rain boots so we could go play in the puddles. We had three pretty good ones right in the street out in front of our house and she seemed to enjoy playing in them while they lasted. One advantage to living on a cul-de-sac is that we don't have a lot of traffic and what we do get, most know to watch out for the little ones.

She is still very much enjoying her books. Much of yesterday morning was spent reading - either me to her or her to her animals and herself. Dr. Suess is the big hit right now.

And she has almost mastered riding a tricycle. She's borrowed Emilie's a few times now and really seems to be enjoying it. She still has some difficulty getting started going up the little grade of the street, but once she gets going, she goes.

We have some new friends in the neighborhood now too. Just two doors down from Emilie, a family with 3 girls (Abby - 8, Amy - 4, and Anna Grace - 18 months) has moved in and then two doors up from us a family with 2 little girls (Rachel - 3 and Laura - 18 months) has moved in. So now we have a street full of kids most every day. In one of today's pictures Amy is pictured with the other Amy. (Yes it can get quite confusing with all these Amy's in the neighborhood.)

Here are today's pictures.

Well life certainly has been busy lately.

Two days after Oma left we all flew up to Michigan in a Cessna 172 - with Dean as the pilot, for the Labor Day weekend. We had a wonderful time visiting with Aunts Sharon, Josie, and Carline, Uncles Cor and Larry, and cousins Corey, Leah, and Nick.

Amy did great flying. She fell asleep for about half of the trip going up and about 3/4 of the trip coming back. We made one stop going up in Batavia Ohio. There we had lunch, refueled and made pit stops. On the way back we stopped in Mt.Sterling Kentucky. Again had lunch, refueled, and made pit stops. At both airports Amy announced that she had to use the potty and she acutally did.

She even decided to use the potty a few times at Aunt Sharon & Uncle Cors house too. It's still slow going, but the number of stickers on the lid of her potty is increasing. I know I am certainly looking forward to the day when we don't have to buy any more diapers or pull ups.

She definitely enjoyed the beautiful weather that we had during our visit and being outside. She especially enjoyed Aunt Sharon's flowers. She and Aunt Carline picked a few one morning and then she spent the rest of that morning arranging and rearranging them.

She is remembering more and more when it comes to music and songs. One of the things they do at school is learn new songs every month. She has been coming home and singing them, remembering most of the words and actually having to teach some of them to Dean and me because we don't know them. She also likes listening to the radio or a cd when we are in the car too. Just about any kind of music will do right now. I'm sure that will change when we hit the teenage years though.

Here are today's pictures.
