Amy is thoroughly enjoying school. Although she was a little unsure going back after being away for a few days - on her trip to visit Grammie, Grandpa, Uncle Phil, Aunt Alison, and Uncle Fred. But once there she got right back into the routine and was all excited about being back when I picked her up after school.
She and Dean drove up to West Virginia for a week at the end of August. I was away in Nashville for a quilting convention/classes while they were up north. With the exception of the long drive Amy did very well and had a nice visit with everyone. I think during that time she had another growth spurt too. She came back speaking more clearly and talking in volumes and paragraphs.
One Sunday after coming home from church, Amy bonked her head on something. It was no big deal, but the funny thing about it was that she told Dean to pray over it right after she had done it. Dean and I both looked at each other, wondering where she had picked that idea up. We guessed she had seen someone else do that at church. But once he prayed over it she said it felt much better. It certainly taught us a lesson about having the faith of a child.
That same day we were having lunch - ham and cheese on crackers for Amy and ham sandwiches for Dean and myself. When she asked Dean why he didn't have any cheese, he told her that mommy was punishing him for not letting her know that we were almost out of cheese (which we were by the time I had finished making her crackers). So she decided that she would share her cheese with him, took the ham off the top, then picked up the cheese, broke a small piece off and gave it to him. She did this with all four of her crackers. It was a very cute and sweet moment.
She is learning to write her letters and numbers in school. They have been working on the letters A, B, and C, and the numbers one, two, and three. She's getting better every time they practice and she is continuing to practice writing her first name too.
She has a cute habit of watching Dean leave for work every day. She stands in the dining room window (and it has to be open so she can yell to him) and has an entire speech that she repeats each morning, "bye, love you, have a nice day, have a nice meeting, have a nice lunch". Then Dean has to wave the stuffed animals that ride in his truck before he can actually pull away and drive to work.
Amy is also mastering dressing herself. She figured out buttoning her dress for church and almost got her tights on all by herself. Even I still have a hard time with my tights, so I was amazed at how well she did with hers. She definitely has her opinions about what she does and doesn't want to wear. And there are days when we have to match - which can be a challenge finding something in our wardrobes that are similar enough for her to think we match.
Here are pictures for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
